Centering Prayer Group

September 12, 2024 7:00 pm September 12, 2024 8:00 pm America/Regina Centering Prayer Group

Centering Prayer is a unique prayer practice. It is one of MANY ways to pray. Centering prayer involves silence instead of words. Centering prayer is about putting our focus in THIS exact moment on the God of the Universe who holds all things, including ourselves. Centering prayer is about setting aside a set amount of time that we will silently PRACTICE putting our attention on Jesus. This prayer practice is truly about PRACTICE! We are not going to ‘get it right’ all the time – in fact, drifting thoughts, and coming back to God, is kind of the ongoing process as God transforms us by the Spirit. You may find the attached short article about Centering Prayer a helpful introduction. By meeting TOGETHER to practice centering prayer, we are making an intentional effort to be held accountable to one another. We are also supported by one another in a unique way, as scripture tells us. Even though much of our meeting will be in silence, we are upholding one another as the body of Christ. We will meet once a month on a Thursday Evening (7pm to 8pm). 7:00 to 7:20 – Greetings and settling in with introductory teaching 7:20 to 7:40 – Silent centering prayer 7:40 to 8:00 – Group reflection on our experience of prayer Contact: Pastor Kirsten kirstenkwaldschmidt@gmail.com
